Internet Broadcasters Network

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the integration of the Internet Broadcasters Network!

Over the past year we have been growing rapidly. There are so many outlets for streaming media on the internet now.

We were already beyond the description of a "Radio Network" with our existing theme, so we decided to kick it up a notch.

We are now welcoming internet audio / radio / video / television media and industry to our network to meet and exchange broadcasting resources.

We have also revamped our website and made information easier to find and utilize.

You may visit our site at www.internetbroadcasters.net or www.tunesradio.net.

New and Original Members may now choose to register formally with the network to be added to our media schedule but may also utilize the following networking resources:

  • Internet Broadcasters Forum
  • Internet Broadcasters Social Networking
  • IRC Chat Network
  • Telephone Conferencing and Networking
  • Affiliates Program
  • Showcased Programming on our Website and Promotional Audio Feed

Stop by our Comments Section and leave us a Comment!

If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Fondly,

New Website

Over the past few months, we have been working on restructuring the TRN presence.

We are working on the visual aspect of our website and have just gone live!

In appreciation for the business owners who were kind enough to assist us in the past, (but are no longer an active part of TRN) we have linked to their services; however removing them from the staff.

Tell a friend about the Tunes Radio Network today, because we bring broadcasting industry together!

Thank you.

ISP's want RIAA to Pay

Following the RIAA's recent announcement that it's going to stop suing individuals for pirating music and will instead ask ISPs to crack down on file sharers, Jerry Scroggin, who runs the small ISP Bayou Internet and Communications, says he expects the RIAA to pay for that kind of support.

"Scroggin's case underscores a potential obstacle for the RIAA's plan to enlist the help of ISPs," writes CNET's Greg Sandoval. "Small companies like his are innocent bystanders in the music industry's war on copyright infringement. Nonetheless, they are asked to help enforce copyright law free of charge. Many of them can't afford it."

"It costs both time and money to do things like pay technicians to sift through traffic logs, especially when users can spoof IPs and otherwise obfuscate their activity," writes Ars Technica's David Chartier. "Complicating matters further, Scroggin says that P2P use doesn't carry the same sense of urgency that, say, child porn traffickers or gun-happy teens do. Spending long hours to stop what may not even be a crime, only to pick up the tab in full, is simply not within a small ISP's budget."

RIAA Halts Lawsuits

LOS ANGELES - The group representing the U.S. recording industry said Friday it has abandoned its policy of suing people for sharing songs protected by copyright and will work with Internet service providers to cut abusers' access if they ignore repeated warnings.

The move ends a controversial program that saw the Recording Industry Association of America sue about 35,000 people since 2003 for swapping songs online. Because of high legal costs for defenders, virtually all of those hit with lawsuits settled, on average for around $3,500. The association's legal costs, in the meantime, exceeded the settlement money it brought in.

Teleconference Overview

The Tunes Radio Network is comprised of a volunteer staff and internet radio broadcasters whose goal is to have fun, gain experience in the radio, promotions, networking and to meet other radio enthusiasts.

Over a year ago, our focus was quite different than what is now.  We were once an internet radio station that hosted broadcasters on a dedicated server.  We operated on Shoutcast; a technology that allowed us to be listed and exposed on the Shoutcast directory, powered by AOL.

Today, we are a smaller network of broadcasters that continue to grow and utilize new methods to bring broadcaster and radio enthusiasts together.  We promote ourselves, utilizing many networking methods, including but not limited to Shoutcast,  Craigslist, many social networking outlets and radio forums, etc.

In the future, our goal is to redefine a whole new concept of social and business networking on a level that gives individuals options, other than "text" to communicate and network.  We will take the concept of networking "outside the box" and bring new life and fresh excitement to computer communications and create networking portals to channel specific interests.  We will be the pioneers in the next generation of social and business networking.

Over the past year, there has been some confusion over what the Tunes Radio Network will "allow".  Unlike the days where were regulated by the RIAA as a dedicated server and host provider, we are not boundless.  Our members have the freedom to broadcast anywhere other than Shoutcast and have the ability to choose their format and material without Tunes Radio limitations, as we once experienced.  Members have complete control over their programming content at their own discretion.

The Tunes Radio Network exists to promote and network their members.

Year in Review:

January

The introduction of URL redirect for all members.  This service was provided to all members of the Tunes Radio Network.  A short URL was provided and members could login to configure where the short URL would point, so no matter what server or host the broadcaster would utilize, they could always be found, without the Tunes Radio Network having to update their location on the website constantly.  The URL stays with the member for life.

New paid positions for telephone technical support team members to host this service are available.  Inquire within!

February

The Teens are Talking project lifted off.  The buzz grew in mid-west schools.  We're now at a point where Teens are Talking has faded off.  We have brought Anna on board in December as the new Director of Marketing for the Teens are Talking project.  Anna will bring a fresh design and approach to Teens are Talking and guide us with inspiration to lift Teens are Talking off the ground again with immediate focus on the East Coast to start.

March

The Tunes Radio Network invades AOL and creates a presence.  With Anna's experience with AOL, she will be taking over this account in December and will allow it to flourish again.

The Tunes Radio Network attained a dedicated 24 hour streaming server for Shoutcast from H, to host its promotional feed.  Bands supplied their music and provided permission for airplay.  Scott provided us with commercials and promotional sweeps.

April

The Tunes Radio Network worked with broadcasters to resource shared licenses to broadcast legally to avoid fines from RIAA.

Aggressive promotions to expand the network were put into motion.  More promotion staff was added and a cross-chat platform for our IRC partners was initiated.

A new forum was put into place to reduce spam exposure.

May

We sadly lost the life of our beloved Network Manager, Skye, Darlene Peters.

A blog / news section was added to our website.

June

T-Shirts to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Memory of Darlene Peters were voted on and designed.

November

Reports of Domain Fraud from Asia and attacks to capture the Tunes Radio Network domain.  Members and staff are warned to not reply or engage any queries regarding information on our domains or business practices.  All queries should be directed to Chickie, Program Director.

Staff Update

Friday, May 9th, the life of our beloved Network Manager and Radio Host, Lady Skye aka Darlene came to an end. She was 37 years old.

Lady Skye came aboard the Tunes Radio Network in the fall of 2007 and quickly became the most popular host with her captivating voice, as a psychic advisor.

She had survived lung cancer a year earlier, however it returned. Skye remained independent, smart, strong, brave and loving to all the people in her life.

She leaves behind her team here at the Tunes Radio Network, fans, friends, family, and four beautiful children.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by all of us.

The Tunes Radio Network History

Spring of 2008, extensive marketing efforts were put into the Tunes Radio Network.

A forum was added for the members of the Tunes Radio Network to have a place to network and exchange information. http://forum.tunesradio.net

A news section was incorporated as well to feature this blog. http://news.tunesradio.net

New radio commercials were added to our promotional feed. http://listen.to/TRN

An addendum was made to our disclosure: ( http://www.tunesradio.net/be.html )

"User agrees to participate with the Tunes Radio Network and will allow other broadcasters and other members of the network to contact them from time to time to share resources."

January 2008, AUSTnet IRC Network, partnered with the Tunes Radio Network to give their Australian users the opportunity to increase their audio broadcasts for their gamers and chatters. http://blog.austnet.org/

Winter of 2007, WhatNET IRC Network partnered with the Tunes Radio Network to become the official home radio network for WhatNET. http://www.whatnet.org/

Fall of 2007, Tunes Radio outgrew it's dedicated feel altogether and underwent a metamorphosis. The Tunes Radio Network was born. Broadcasters would now no longer be required to use a remote server to broadcast. Extra effort to walk broadcasters through the Shoutcast setup became the trend. Other broadcasters wanted "in" on the network and the exposure rates climbed!

The start of a promotional feed began that featured unsigned artists and samplers of professional sounding radio bumpers.

Late-Summer of 2007, the Teens are Talking project was born. With their motto, "It's their turn to be heard." Teens from all over the world eagerly put on their microphones and began to talk about their school day, what they were learning, the global news that affected them and general teen concerns.

Summer of 2007, Tunes Radio began to outgrow its dedicated feed and the requirement for more bandwidth and web space became inevitable.

Spring of 2007, Tunes Radio received sponsorship of a dedicated feed with more bandwidth and gained more broadcasters. The staff began to grow and the popularity of the project became the talk on many IRC networks.

Tunes Radio was formed in February 2007 by Quantum Inspirations. It consisted of a single feed that featured ambient music and talk radio.
